February 2028.

The Session Court of Pune dismissed the case of PD against alleged financial fraud by Kat. Kat, without even coming to India, had appointed Advocate Vrushabh Jain against PD. Jain was a very tough lawyer to fight against. Mandar couldn’t foresee what was coming when he advocated on behalf of PD. PD lost the case because of lack of sufficient evidence. Kat had incorporated the stories so well and randomly in her script that prima facie it was not at all recognisable. Mandar failed to prove otherwise.
Same day, at PD’s house, Sam, her husband, PD, Tony, Shruti and Mandar gathered.
“International cases are difficult for a reason brother. Court cannot bring them with police force in India. They have to attend the hearing. Of course, if case is lodged against such NRIs, it gets difficult for them to get past through immigration itself, especially when court issues arrest warrant…” said Mandar when PD interrupted him in the meanwhile “you said immigration right? Good. If that can be the tricky doormat, let’s just get directly to it. But for now, we need a teamwork. Shruti, you’re a journalist. Sam, you’re CEO of a start-up with majority American client base. Mandar you’re already in a team. I’m not going to change you merely because you lost it. Nobody can fight for me as good as you can. Remember what happened in school days when we were together at Panchgani Boarding School? Vrushabh cheated in the cricket and strangled me down while I was running between the wickets. You came and hit him with the bat without even thinking of consequences…” “Wait what? The opposite lawyer Vrushabh Jain is your schoolmate?” asked Sam. “Apparantly yes. Biggest enemy of our lives. This legal fight must be personal for him” said Mandar. PD started planning, “alright so we have legal force, business force, Media and…” PD stopped as he heard siren of police vans. He went to balcony. Sam and Tony followed him. He looked down in the lobby of the township he lived in and saw that 3-4 police vans with an Innova right in the middle of the convoy came inside the township and stopped beside PD’s building. The Innova had a small Indian flag on Bonet and “Ministry of External Affairs was written” on the windshield. A lady in neatly ironed Saree was sitting inside. Her Y+ Security personnel ensured everything safe and opened the door. The lady came right inside the building with only one guard, leaving all the security behind. “And Bureaucracy….we now have bureaucratic power too” murmured PD. The lady came inside the house and asked her bodyguards to stay outside. “Devu….we missed you so much….” Said Sam while Devika ran towards her and Tony, and hugged them both. “PD what nonsense is this? All of this happened and you never cared to inform me or Geeta even once?” Said Devika. “Both of you have been very busy officers since 2025.” Replied PD.

Flashback….March 2025.

Tony and PDs engagement was fixed. Kat’s MBA Final exams were going on. Sam got married. Mandar and Shruti also got married. Mandar started his practice in Bombay Highcourt as an Advocate. PD had got a decent job as well. Tony was searching one.
All of a sudden, there came a news that blew up everyone. Devika and Geeta secured 52nd and 64th ranks respectively in UPSC CSE 2024. Both of them got IFS Cadre. The whole group celebrated their victory by throwing kilos of Gulal on streets of Sadashiv Peth. The duo was felicitated everywhere. They never told the group about their preparation or even exam. They just did it. They had to say their final goodbyes as they went for their IFS training in the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Services in Pune itself. They became quite busy afterwards.

Back to the day in February 2028.
Devika started, “I’ve heard about the case because it concerns my job. An American citizen which is of Indian origin and has been an erstwhile Indian citizen too, is alleged by an Indian for a fraud of around 50 million dollars. This caught attention of Ministry of External Affairs because it might affect the diplomatic ties between the two nations. The money involved is too less but the people involved aren’t. Kat’s husband has strong political connections in American government, especially with their Foreign Secretary. If such a man’s beloved wife is challenged by an Indian in an Indian court, what do you expect the Foreign Secretary of US would do? We have received a concerning letter from the US Embassy in India. PD, Mandar and Tony, all of your names were directly mentioned saying you have put false allegations on a respected US citizen. PD, I’m here on duty. You saw that outside I have come with a convoy and security, but more than anything, this is out of friendship. I have picked this case voluntarily. The US Ambassador to India wants me to summon you but would be the last thing I do. I’m here to stand firmly with both of my love bird friends, and to attend this unintentional reunion. Have brought you all Pizzas and coke midway.”
“Oh my god, we really did make a reunion!” Sam overwhelmed as she realized.
“Avengers reassembled?” said Shruti
“No, Soviet Reunion!” added Devika. Everyone laughed.
“Where’s Geeta nowadays?” asked Tony
“Well, that is the climax of our story, she’s India’s Ambassador to US. Said Devika, “we both are handling the political and bureaucratic angle from two ends. Please don’t mess up. Andrew’s power has to be neutralized and Geeta will ensure that. I will handle Delhi. I’ll take your stand to Foreign Secretary and eventually the Foreign Minister of India. For that, I will need some evidences, enough to make a point that the allegations were not false and that the US should consider opinions of both the parties instead of backing their citizen blindly.”
For a moment, everyone was stunned. Devika had become such a great officer but was still down to earth and secondly, the matter was way bigger than they imagined. “You’ll get the evidences. For now, take copies of our Writ Petition to Bombay Highcourt against the order passed by Pune” Session Court. Let them know we haven’t stopped the battle yet” said PD.
“I’ll be in Pune for a month PD. I am hosting some foreign delegates at an important government conference. Call me anytime and I’ll be here for you.” Said Devika while taking away copies of writ petition filed.
Some days later, a news was all over US media that the wife of renowned script writer Andrew Hudson has copied the stories of an Indian writer for a superhit movie. Through Sam’s clients, Shruti managed to contact media houses in US. In India as well, it became a hot topic. PD was called upon in many media houses. Petition was filed at Bombay High Court and Mandar was getting the dates extended to buy some time to collect the evidences. Vrushabh was trying to get the case dismissed. Mandar successfully managed to make the High Court issue arrest warrant against Kat in December 2028.
Kat received a mail from an Indian music producer who wanted script for his song. Kat agreed for a live meeting. The producer issued first class business tickets and ensured quality stay. Kat left US and arrived India in February 2029. Police arrested her at the immigration. This biggest bait was laid by PD’s good old friend and the erstwhile roommate, Akshay Kadam, who indeed became a mainstream music director and producer.
Kat was now in Police custody. Vrushabh was making arrangements for her bail. Here in the US, Andrew put everyone on fire for her wife and Foreign Secretariat of US started aggressive attempts for her release. India’s Ambassador to US Geeta Yeole was playing a diplomatic warfare by not taking the voice of Andrew to India. Kat remained in Police custody for a month.
Kat finally got the bail and was released. The matter had become a prime time hot topic in India. Shruti took all the efforts to keep the issue trending.
For a good period of July 2028 December 2029, the court battle was like a test match where both the parties were submitting their contentions and evidences only enough to get the next date. Geeta kept the diplomatic battle alive and finally managed to get the evidence that Kat’s American citizenship was questionable. The US government deported her identity back to Indian Embassy in US. Embassy, apparently Geeta, confirmed her identity. Kat was already in India. Her US citizenship came to end in January 2030 and her Indian citizenship was already lost. The case finally took a turn where it became tougher for Kat. Kat applied for Indian citizenship again. Devika made sure that her citizenship in the status of “Original Citizen of India” gets approved within 15 days and her refugee status falls, so as to make sure no international laws are attracted to this case. By applying for OCI, Kat herself made it worse.

February 14, 2030.

A hot courtroom drama goes on between the parties in Bombay High Court. Advocate Mandar submits, “Your honour, the Defence has no ground to say that these two are different stories. According to Copyright Act 1956, it is important for anyone who is using a copyrighted material to transform the same, to give the credits to the original creator. In this case Your Honour, we can definitely notice how plot of the stories written by my client P D Kulkarni ‘Prophecy’, ‘Naak Ke Neeche Se’ and ‘Blind Love’ are literally copy pasted in the script of the Hollywood movie ‘Wardens of the North’ written by the accused Katherine Kevinson-Hudson. The copies of the stories are submitted.”
Advocate Vrushabh Jain started, “My Lord, the Prosecution has no idea of Copyright Act or any other law of land for that matter. The material posted on the plaintiff P D Kulkarni’s website has no copyright registration at all. Secondly, my esteemed client is an American citizen and not an Indian citizen. It is to be taken on record my lord that there is no evidence submitted by dear friend Mandar which can prove that my esteemed client Katheriene Hudson has referred to the website of Mr. P D Kulkarni.
“Objection My Lord. Defence is not considering the fact that the website of P D Kulkarni has a copyright registered and every material posted on website is protected by the copyright so provided. The hosting platform of website has a registered copyright under the provisions of Copyright Act of India, which extends to its users, The hosting and domain certificates are submitted my lord. One more objection, the accused Katheriene Kevinson-Hudson is no longer a US citizen by decree of US Foreign Secretariat’s letter to Indian High Commission in Washington DC. Further, accused Katheriene has been awarded OCI status by the Ministry of External Affairs previous month. Defence is misleading the court.” Said Mandar.
“Both the objections sustained”, Said the Judge.
“With your permission My Lord, I want to question Mr. P D Kulkarni” said Mandar. “You may proceed”, the Jury permissioned.
“Mr. P D Kulkarni, how do you know that accused Mrs. Katheriene has copied your stories in the script she wrote for ‘Wardens of the North’?” asked Mandar.
“Your honour, Mrs. Katherine used to learn writing stories from me in 2024. In fact, she met me after reading my stories. We had a friendly relation and Mrs. Katherine used to call me Bhaiya. In the first book she wrote called ‘The Colourful Chessboard’, she has rightly mentioned in the prologue that her inspiration for writing is me and that she will always refer to my writing” PD submitted.
“Point to be noted My Lord, Mrs. Katherine has publically acknowledged that she had inspiration from my client and has also said that she will always refer to his writing” said Mandar while sitting down.
“Defence may proceed to cross examine the plaintiff”, said Justice.
Vrushabh started cross questioning, “Mr. PD, how will you differentiate between being inspired to write and copying someone’s material?”
“It depends. Inspired is something which has a degree of influence whereas copy is something clearly similar with the original content.” Said PD.
“Point to be noted my lord. Mrs. Katherine accepts that she has inspiration from Mr. PD and PD himself is acknowledging the fact that inspiration does not count to copy. All these evidences submitted by prosecution indicate that there is only a degree of inspiration and not copy”, Vrushabh argued.
Mandar then proceeded to Katherine for cross examination.
“Mrs. Katherine, how would you explain the plot of the movie ‘Wardens of the North’ to the court?”
“A British merchant navy officer from 18th Century goes on to explore Northern Canada and finds out the local tribes, their politics. Falls in love with a local young girl and cheats her. Her ghost eventually kills the officer while the officer is playing vital role in changing politics of Northern Canadian tribes” Katherine answered.
“Do you admit this is inspired by multiple stories of Mr. PD?”
“It can be, the nature is completely different. My story revolves around 18th Century while PD’s stories are based in 21st Century” Katherine answered.
“So, you admit you have read the stories multiple times?” asked Mandar
“I did not say anything like that” replied Katherine.
“My Lord you have seen with your own eyes that Mrs. Katherine is contradicting her own statements. Her fraudulent intentions are self-explanatory”, said Mandar.
“Objection My Lord, Prosecution is trying to lead the accused”, said Vrushabh.
“Objection overruled”, said the Justice.
“My Lord, the evidences are before you and so are the submissions. My client awaits justice. I pray for the same and rest for today”, said Mandar.
“Your Honour, there is still no evidence that my client Mrs. Katherine has referred to the writings of Mr. PD while writing this particular script of ‘Wardens of the North’. Only the references to book she had written 3 years ago cannot claim that she has taken inspiration or copied the work of PD for this particular work. I pray this case be dismissed on the ground of lack of evidences”, said Vrushabh.
“In the light of evidences submitted and submissions heard, this court finds it difficult to reach to conclusion. The court is adjourned till next hearing”, said Justice Joshi.
It was now almost clear that Katherine was about to lose the case. While leaving the courtroom, Katherine cornered Tony and said, “Tony darling, do you really like your sister-in-law in trouble? Then you may get yourself in trouble too. Remember what happened at the publication event of my book “The Colourful Chessboard”? I saw you kissing your ex in the greenroom who came there by co-incidence. How would PD feel when he gets to know this? I know you love him and what happened with your ex was just an accident but will your relation be the same again if he gets to know this?”
“Are you trying to blackmail me?” asked Tony while getting frightened.
“I am trying to save both of us. Convince PD to take back the case and I’ll not tell anything. You have 24 hours” said Kat and left.
Ahead of guilt, frustration and fear, Tony jumped from the residential building of PD in the same evening and died. Police found out in the investigation her last conversation with Kat, which was apparently recorded in the CCTV of courtroom with voice.
PD got angry, frustrated, sad all at a time. Everyone was shocked by Tony’s suicide and was in grief. The most beautiful love story of these friends’ group had taken a tragic turn. Despite getting to know that Tony cheated, PD was in so much grief that he almost lost himself in the meanwhile. Police suo-moto charged case of Abatement of Suicide against Kat. Kat was arrested again. PD went to Police station to talk to her.
“If only Tony knew that I knew about the fact that she kissed his ex. That jerk of a person tried to blackmail her too. I had forgiven her for the fact, without even letting her know that I knew it. There was no way you could blackmail her. If only she had talked with me, we would have been together. Kat, you have done what worst you could do, now witness my wrath as it unfolds. It would only cost you 50 million dollars if not for Tony’s suicide. Now, I will make sure you lose everything. It pains me to do this but I will. You took my love, I’ll take yours, and that’s the real justice I’ll fight for, now. Dharma Hinsa Tathaiva Cha” said PD.
In a matter of few months, the media trials of Andrew Hudson were risen to its peak. The renowned script writer faced huge criticism. Sam’s American clients made sure he loses every contract he enters. Geeta made sure none of his political friends would succeed in cornering Indian Embassy. Eventually, Andrew lost his political friends and commercial contacts both. He tried to counter the media narrative but it cost him every last penny he had. Frustrated and lost in life, Andrew committed suicide in September 2030, months after Tony’s suicide. Here, the court kept adjourning as no crucial evidence or witness could be produced. Kat now had an abatement of suicide case as well.

April 26, 2031. The Final Day in the Bombay High Court.
Mandar made aggressive arguments saying, “Your Honour, the website search history of Mrs. Katherine is before you. It is clearly evident that Katherine has accessed the website of Mr. PD multiple times while writing the script of ‘Wardens of the North’. You can cross check the dates, times and IP addresses. Your Honour, even if she claims this as an inspiration work, my client has not been given due credit. Plus, the CCTV footage this very courtroom has already proven beyond any doubt that Katherine has abated Mrs. Pooja aka Tony to commit suicide. Your Honour, we deserve and await justice. I pray that the accused shall be hanged till death.”
The court ordered life sentence to Kat and compensation of equal amount of 50 Million Dollars in Indian Rupees in favour of PD as explained in the first part of this story.

Same day at 11:45 PM at Sion Hospital Mumbai.

“Mr. Kulkarni, Inspector Naikwade, the patient Mrs. Katherine has come to senses’’, said the nurse.
“Kat, read this. We are blood related, siblings in the literal sense. You know Kat, when Yudhishthir came to know about Karna’s reality that he was his elder brother, he grieved. I did too. But Karna was already dead and you are not. You acted like Karna as well. When you came to my house, I saw you getting along with Dad. I know, that you knew about this all test tube baby thing. Dad must have told you this. You still acted the same. You still committed fraud, you made Tony commit suicide. You do not deserve life sentence. You deserve a fullstop,” said PD while snatching the Gun of Inspector and shooting Kat in the head.

Not the ending!!!

April 26, 2024, Sion Hospital, Mumbai.

PD was in Coma ahead of the accident he met with 2 months ago. He woke up after 2 months. Tony came running to him and hugged him while he was laying on the bed. He could clearly remember everything he saw in the long dream while he was in Coma. He was so happy to see that everything he saw was just a dream. He cried as he hugged Tony and was happy to see her alive. He could recognise everyone. He saw his parents, Sam, Tony, Geeta, Devika, Mandar, Shruti in the ICU.
“Where is Kat” PD asked.
“Sorry to say but Kat is no more, PD. She died in that accident and you survived”, Said Sam.
“Can everyone please excuse me and my dad?” said PD. Everyone left.
“Dad, did you ever donate your sperm for a test tube baby contract?” asked PD.
“How do you know it Son?” asked his Dad.
“Was it the Kevinson couple?” asked PD.
“Yes dear. Your dear friend Kat was your sister for real, but not legal.” Said his Dad.
PD got frightened. He saw everything just as happened and everything that might have happened had he not met with the accident. He lived an alternate reality when he was in Coma. He could see Kat outside the window of ICU waving and smiling down at him. She disappeared in a minute. “Thank you, Kat”, said PD “I will write this story for you now, titled The Colourful Chessboard”.

The End.

Warm Regards,
Dnyanesh Make “The DPM”

On a rainy night of year 1998, at a residential area in Panjim, Goa, a man was running for his life. Some highly armed goons were chasing him He knocked door of a small house. 27 year old Ms. Gracia opened the door. She felt a little afraid of the man as he seemed a foreigner and was knocking door at the midnight. She did take him inside after hearing him plead for his life. The man was gasping. Gracia offered him a glass of water. The goons got confused and then missed the road. The man started speaking. “I’m very sorry for knocking your door at such an odd hour but those goons were following me. All I did was complaining the police about their drug storage in the hotel I was staying. They managed the police and started running after me. Please let me stay here for the night. Your house seems small and you seem alone too. But trust me, I swear on Jesus I’ll not do anything. Take my passport for that matter.” Said the man while going to bathroom. He noticed framed picture of Jesus in the house. He lit a candle in front of the picture.
Gracia was reading the passport. The man was Irish, by the name William Kevinson. His passport had only a few stamps. When he returned, Gracia said, “you can sleep on the couch, I’ll sleep on the floor, and don’t worry, nobody can touch you when you’re with me. I’m not alone here. I was an orphan when people from these colony found me. The tea shop on the opposite side of road is owned by me. The colony people treat me like their daughter. If you are my guest, they’ll not let anything happen to you, and if you’re my enemy, nobody can save you. Good night” said Gracia while sleeping on the floor.
William had lost all his money in the haste and he had not left with a penny to go back. He was an orphan too, working at a job paying enough for his survival in Ireland. The next morning when William woke up, the whole colony was waiting for him outside Gracia’s house. They gestured him well. He told them about the loss. In a matter of days, the people helped William to get his money back from the hotel. Meanwhile, Gracia and William fell in love. William returned to Ireland and came back again, with a full plan to settle in India. He applied for Indian citizenship. Gracia and William got married in the year 2000 and got settled in Belgavi, Karnataka. They tried conceiving a child multiple times but failed.
December 2000. At Chakankar Fertility and Paediatrics Hospital, Pune, Dr. Pendse was explaining, “Mr. and Mrs. Kevinson, the only option you are left with, is Test Tube Baby. It is indeed available at our hospital but it requires a donor in your case. Your sperm count is low for conceiving a child Mr. Kevinson. This technology is new in India and it is difficult to find a sperm donor. Imagine me convincing someone to donate sperm anywhere in India, especially to a young man. How would the man respond? You are living in India for more than 2 years now, you must be knowing the people here. Plus, this scarcity has already increased the price of existing sperm donors, which is not affordable for you. Please have patience. God will definitely hear your prayers. I’ll let you know once I get some lead.”
The couple came outside the cabin with a disappointment on faces. An old lady sitting outside was discussing something with her daughter-in-law which they heard. “It’s only because of the Khandoba of Jejuri, you and your husband have a child. Please take care of him. Why do we always have to visit hospital? The child must be healthy.” William heard it. He suddenly went to the lady. “What were you talking Ma’am? Can you please repeat? Who helped your daughter-in-law and son conceive a child?” “Lord Khandoba” the lady replied. “It’s a Hindu God nearby Pune. I’ve been knowing the place since childhood. If you wish we can go there.” Said Gracia. “Then let’s rush, now!” said William and they left for Jejuri.
Seeing a European man at Jejuri Khandoba Temple was catching attention. Out of which a person came and asked the Kevinson couple. When William told him about his concern in detail, the man replied, “Khandoba heard your prayers and so did Jesus. Go and take his blessings. I’ll wait here outside,” said the 28 year old man with having a 2 year old child on his shoulder and a wife beside. He was Dinkar Ramchandra Kulkarni, and the child on his shoulder, was Piyush Dinkar Kulkarni!
Dinkar happily agreed to donate his sperm for free, under a legal Sperm Donation Contract to the Kevinson couple. Through the test tube baby technology, Gracia conceived twins in June 2001 and delivered them in March 2002. Thus, Katherine and her twin brother Jonathan were born, of which Jonathan died in 2023 as mentioned in the earlier part of this series. Although the biological father would be Dinkar, the legal contract with a confidentiality clause would never reveal it and the children would be raised by their legal parents only, the Kevinsons. The Kulkarnis and Kevinsons never met again.

Cut to present, Sion Hospital, Mumbai, 2031.
PD was confused as hell. He was blown up completely. On one hand the pain and grief of Tony’s suicide was still haunting him. On the other hand he did everything to put Katherine behind the bars, but was still not happy about it, and now this revelation was putting him in a guilt trip plus raising many questions about this fact. He had no idea about what happened in 2000 and 2001. But he started remembering 2024 again. Katherine was still not conscious, so he waited outside the ICU and went to flashback again.

June 2024.
Exams were over. Kat was doing MBA, and PD & his gang was doing PGDM. Almost all of them got placed by this time. Even Kat got a very good internship at the end of her MBA second semester. The happiness had to be celebrated. Kat suggested going to Jejuri for picnic. Everyone was left shocked by hearing a Christian girl asking to go for a Hindu pilgrimage site, but Kat said “My parents go there every year. They say even if Jesus is the Son of God, Khandoba is a God too and we have his blessings.” Everyone agreed and went to Jejuri.
Mandar joined the group for Jejuri trip with his girlfriend Shruti. All of them enjoyed much. At the foothills of Temple, Mandar proposed Shruti for marriage and she accepted. Tony asked PD for the same. “What difference would it make? I’ll marry you even if I don’t propose you like this.” With tears in eyes and disappointment on face, Tony left and went aside. PD tried convincing her but no use. Devika and Geeta approached PD. “Did you ever try and understand her feelings? Even if you don’t want to do these propose formalities, you could just have said yes. All she wanted was to show that her man is also capable.” Said Devika. “And yes, you’re terrible at complimenting and appreciating her. I feel so sorry for her you know. All you always want is people to read whatever you write. Man, you have a girlfriend who’s serious with you. Please grow up. She’s your responsibility” Geeta added. Geeta and Devika, though being much for themselves, always showed mirror to PD for what he actually is. Here, Sam was trying to convince Tony. PD went to her with a tiny pack of Sindoor and applied it on her forehead. “I won’t ask when I know we’re going to marry. This is called Gandharva Vivaha.” Tony became happy. PD then video called his Mom to show where he had come. Mom said, “Remember child, Jejuri is a place of worship. God blesses us when we help others. Almost 24 years ago, your Dad helped some foreigner with a crucial requirement upon which his life was dependent. Ever since, we have never seen a setback in life. Piyush darling, I wish could tell you that….” Suddenly his dad interrupted and said “we could tell you that you have been so lucky about things. These many girls weren’t even in my college and you’re roaming around with them. Make sure one of them becomes our daughter-in-law.” PD became shy and cut the phone. Tony was hearing the conversation. “When are you going to take me home then?” “Right after this trip” said PD.
After coming from Jejuri, PD went to his hometown Nashik, with Mandar, Shruti, Tony, Sam and Kat. PD’s Mom became happy to know that he was dating and planning to marry Tony, and that even Mandar being her nephew was on the same track with Shruti. PD’s father on the other hand, was happy to see Katherine. In fact, they got along quite easily.
Here in 2031, PD suddenly woke up from the flashback. He called his Dad. “Dad I know that I have a stepsister and used to have a stepbrother too. I have full confidence in your character but please tell me if everything was legit, and you have seen Kat so many times and you knew this legal fight, why didn’t you ever tell me that she’s our blood. She’s fighting for her life Dad. I’ve lost Tony and might as well lose my sister even if she survives. Dad, this silence is killing people, please open up.” Said PD.
Dinkar started explaining, “Piyush, your anger is justifiable. I can understand your situation. But the Sperm Donation Contract I had with Mr. and Mrs. Kevinson was more ethical than legal. Though my DNA rests in her blood but she was raised by William and Gracia and thus they have the right over her. Moreover, the sister and brother relation you guys established was out of love, and not for the fact that you share a DNA. Thirdly, your legal fight is your fight. Pooja’s suicide was her destiny. Kat’s behaviour was her choice again. Revealing anything would not only have caused legal complications, but also would have made things much worse than you can imagine. You did exactly the right thing by putting Kat behind the bars. Remember Arjun from Mahabharat had to kill his own brothers and grandfather for righteousness. This stepsister, could in no circumstances be an excuse for you to escape your fight for justice. Now that you know the fact, know this as well, that no one can change what has happened already. Come to home once you ensure Kat is out of danger.” Said his father.
PD was not amused. Kat was still unconscious. It was already evening. He went to canteen to eat something and returned. He stayed outside ICU again and went to flashback.

December 2026. PD and Tony were happily married for a year. Kat got married to an American named Andrew Hudson. Andrew was a renowned script writer at Hollywood. Kat started writing for Andrew. Here, working in a corporate job, PD almost forgot that he was ever a writer.
One day, Andrew forwarded a script writing proposal to Kat as he wanted to secure that while taking other projects as well.
Kat started working on the script. For references, she used some stories from PD’s blog and incorporated them in her script. The script was accepted. Movie was made and got superhit all over the world.
When Tony watched the movie, she got angry cause almost all of PD’s stories were seemed copied for the script and even a single mention wasn’t there about PD. She told PD about this and he became angry as well. “You fooled me Kat, you never wanted to be my sister. You wanted to use me. It’s time for a payback” murmured PD. “Wait hubby, please talk to Kat once. Listen to what she has to say” advised Tony. Sam arrived at PD’s house with her husband. She got to know about the fraud. “Tony is right PD. Don’t be hasty. Talk to her. It might be midnight over there in Los Angeles. But she’ll receive your call.” Said Sam. PD agreed and called Kat right away. “Hello Kat, please explain this whatever nonsense you have done.” Said PD. “I learnt writing stories from you Bhaiya. My writing will always have your inspiration. That’s all I can explain.” “Fine, share some amount from your royalty then.” Said PD. “What royalty? The contract was between me and Denver Bros Productions. You’re crossing your limits Bhaiya. I turned out to be a successful writer and that is making you feel jealous. I respect you but this is the boundary line. Please don’t cross.” Said Kat. PD hanged the phone off.
“Tony, call my beloved cousin Advocate Mandar. Tell him to be prepared for an international case. This international case is going to be a civil war and I’m going to win it at any cost. Sam, Dam, Dand, Bhed; Kat, I’ll make you regret!” said PD.

To be continued …….

Warm Regards,
Dnyanesh Make

On April 26, 2031, in Mumbai, Katherine Hudson was convicted by the Bombay High Court for not crediting the original writer of a story and held responsible for the related suicide of Mrs. Pooja Piyush Kulkarni, aka Tony, resulting in a seven-year prison sentence. Flashbacks reveal Katherine's history with Piyush "PD" Kulkarni, a writer, and their close relationship that hint at possible familial ties.
April 26, 2031. In the scorching heat of Mumbai, a hot matter was pending decision by Bombay High Court . Justice L K Joshi started reading the order. AC was on 17. Still, Katherine was sweating. She removed her blazer coat. “In the light of the evidences presented before this court and the witnesses heard, it is crystal clear that Mrs. Katherine Hudson has not given due credits to the original writer of the story. Court hereby convicts her of mischief and fraud. Further, the suicide of Mrs. Pooja Piyush Kulkarni aka Tony is also directly related with the mischief done by Mrs. Katherine. The court hereby holds Mrs. Katherine responsible for suicide of Mrs. Pooja and orders seven years of life imprisonment with hard labour. The order is heard and the case is disposed off.” Said the Justice.
Katherine started crying. There was no one but PD in the court. Before the Police could take her away, PD went to her. “I wish I could stop myself from doing this but Tony deserved justice at the very least. I couldn’t save her but I fought for her justice. At the same time, seeing you in pain gives me grief. The matter was already out of my hand. You will spend 7 years of your precious life in jail. But I’m sure I’ll still be there for you after your release”. Without uttering a word, Katherine wore her blazer coat and left with the Police. PD was looking at her with eyes full of tears. He then looked at the photo on his phone. She was Pooja, his beloved wife who had committed suicide a year ago. He went to his car and started reminding where exactly this all started.

Seven years ago, January 2024.
Wintery cool breezes were chilling the bones even in the afternoon when Akshay was sitting at the balcony of his rented apartment, trying to make his own tune on keyboard. Suddenly, he saw a 22 year old girl in a blazer suit and with a backpack approaching the apartment, arguing with the security guard about something. Akshay came down fast. He asked whom was she searching for. The girl said “for sure I know the rising star lives here. Don’t you know him? Piyush Kulkarni? He is such a great writer. He writes by the name PD!”
Akshay started laughing. Piyush was his roommate. He was a writer for sure but the fandom this girl had for Piyush was making him laugh. Controlling the laughter, Akshay said “at the moment, your beloved writer will be at his college, the TMC. “Nonsense, I don’t love him, I’m his fan” said the girl. “But where did you get this address from? You don’t look like one of his friends.” Asked Akshay. “I am Katherine Kevinson from Belgavi. His cousin Mandar is my schoolmate and from my hometown. I came across Piyush’s blog through Mandar” said Kat while leaving the apartment complex.
At the TMC campus, there was a program going on. Piyush had participated for performance of his poetry. He was disappointed with a dead crowd but he did perform well. As he came down from stage, 3-4 girls approached him. Katherine was witnessing everything from afar.
Piyush seemed quite famous amongst girls of his college. There was one girl, however, was seeing him from the distance with agony and Piyush tried to look away from her. Katherine finally approached him. “Piyush Dinkar Kulkarni, I am Katherine Kevinson, your fan. Can I have your autograph please? The girls and boys of his college were left stunned because judging by her ID and blazer suit, Katherine seemed to be belonging to SSM International, a much better college and a girl from such an institute is asking for his autograph was indeed an abnormal thing to notice. Even Piyush himself was stunned by this act. He did sign the autograph and asked a few things to Katherine. They shared numbers and then Katherine left.
“Oh-my-God! Look at Mr. Shayar who has got a die hard fan” said Devika with a sarcastic tone. “Come on, she happens to be friend of my cousin who lives in the same city as her hometown. She values my writing, unlike you” PD replied.
“And what would we get by your poems anyways? They are not for us so why would we even care?” said Geeta, Devika’s bestie.
“Geeta, a slip of tongue from my side and you are being mean for every word?” Asked PD.
“Of course I will. What did you mean by I looked better than you expected?” Replied Geeta with a little anger.
“I’ll just leave before you start hitting me with the rocky bag you have” said PD while leaving them.
PD looked for his friend Samruddhi who was lurking in the Parking area. “Sam Di, where’s Tony?” Asked PD. “My dear bro, everything can be sorted out with a conversation” said Sam. “That’s exactly why I’m searching for her.” Said PD. Tony approached in the parking area.
“Tony please listen to me. You’re taking everything in a wrong way. Today is important for both of us. Sam, please tell her to stop.” Said PD
“I am fed up with you Piyush. You’re just not consistent. Yesterday you were someone else and today you’re completely different. How am I supposed to believe you?” Said Tony.
“Tony, I know I have made mistakes but so did you. Let’s just end this. We both know whatever’s between us” said PD while holding her hands. Tony hesitated but eventually surrendered. “Tony, look into my eyes. Those poems, this Piyush, my life, it’s all for you. I love you. I’m certainly sure about marrying you if you love me too.”
Few seconds passed before Tony hugged PD and started crying. Piyush caressed her while hugging her back. Wiping the tears off, Tony said, “I have waited 4 months for this. I love you too Piyush. I care so much for you. Please don’t break my trust.”
“Will be the last day of my life if I ever break your trust” said PD with holding her chin. Moment was about to come when they almost kissed untill Sam made them aware of the fact that they’re at the college parking. Tony hugged him again before leaving with Sam.

Cut to present, in 2031, PD came out of the memories suddenly when he saw the Police van which was taking Katherine to the jail met with an accident in the court premises. He rushed to the van. Kat was lying in a pool of blood along with the wounded lady police staff. He took her and the lady police in his car with the help of others and rushed to hospital. Another police van followed him.
Much of Kat’s blood was lost. She needed blood and there was not even enough time to test her blood group. The doctor asked police about her blood group. “AB Negative” replied PD. “Do you know this certainly?” asked the chief doctor. PD answered yes and said that he has the same blood group too. “We are already short of AB Negative. Can you please provide your blood? We need more than usual.” Said the Doctor. “Certainly you may” said PD. He laid down on the bed to donate blood after the necessary check up. He went to flashback again lying on the hospital cot.

March 2024….2 months after Tony and PD started their relationship, Katherine had also become a part of PD’s life. Kat used to learn writing stories and poems from PD. In fact, Katherine had become part of the college group of PD. On a specific occasion, Sam, Kat, Tony, PD, Devika, Geeta and Mohit, all of them went for blood donation and tested their blood groups for the first time. While Sam and Tony’s group was O positive, Kat and PD came out to be AB negative, the rarest blood group.
In the same evening, Katherine came to PDs apartment. Akshay opened the door. Kat went to PD and hugged him gently. She was crying. “Should I leave” asked Akshay. “No please Akki, nothing’s between us like that. Please sit.” Said Kat.
“What happened Kat? Everything alright?” asked PD. “Can I call you Bhaiya?” asked Kat. “Come on Kat, is this something even to ask for? Of course you can. You’re indeed a younger sister to me” Said PD. Sitting beside him and putting her head on his shoulder, Kat started. “All my family members have different blood groups, except for my twin brother. He was AB negative too. “Was….?” Asked PD. “Hmm. He is no more. You know Bhaiya, he was just like you. Looked much alike and was a poet as well. He died last year due to an accident. I miss him so much. For some reason PD, you give me the same vibe as he did, and today when our blood groups matched, it almost felt like I met him again. Bhaiya, I’m so lost without him. I’m just not able to comprehend that he’s no more. I know you are altogether a different person. But I saw my brother in you. Please don’t ever leave me Bhaiya.” Said Kat while crying and hugging him again. Akshay got emotional with this scene and went inside kitchen. He brought some snacks and tea for Kat. “You are the second lady after Sam with whom he has a brotherly love. I am in no capacity to judge him or talk in between you guys, but I do feel like you guys look like siblings for real. You are special Kat. Please have this special tea.” Said Akshay.

“Please have this special tea” said the nurse while waking PD up from the flashback again.

Back to 2031.
“Head of neurology Dr. Bhagwat has asked you to come to his cabin after this tea.” Said the nurse.
PD went to Dr. Bhagwat. “Mr. Kulkarni, I know the patient happens to be your legal enemy and a convict but I admire your empathy and gesture to donate 800 ml blood for her. This is beyond imagination. Mrs. Hudson had a severe loss of blood from head area. Hopefully her brain is safe and I can say she is recovering. Now onto topic for which I have called you here. One of our interns in pathology department, out of curiosity has performed DNA tests of you and Mrs. Hudson. First of all I am sorry to have done this without your permission. But the results are shocking. You share the same DNA as Mrs. Katherine Hudson. Judging by the results, it is safe to assume that either or both of your parents are same. That means you two are brother and sister for real. You can see the reports yourself. This seems filmy but isn’t, Mr. Kulkarni.” Said Dr. Bhagwat.

To be continued…..

Warm Regards,
Dnyanesh Make “The DPM”

Despite of the heavy rains in the town, Aniruddh’s curiosity couldn’t let him stay in the house and he went to Django’s house.

Django used to live about half a mile from Ani’s house. Ani and Django weren’t friends. They barely knew each other. Django loved Ani’s Sister, Radhika. Django and Radhika were college mates and that’s how Django had a relationship with her.

Django and Radhika dated for almost a year and then went apart. Radhika’s conservative family was a problem in their relationship. Django took a long time to move on and he finally did.

Ani always had this doubt whether Django and Radha were dating. But his own messed up love life never let him interfere in his sister’s affairs.

A few days ago when Django called Radha to his house, they arranged a long time meet-up which, as you may guess, got carried away as a blind date.

That day, Radha was somewhat emotional. She was meeting Django after 5 years. Django arranged some drinks and played some romantic music, especially the Marathi song “Saavar Re Mana.” That song used to be the couple’s favourite in their days of affair. Radha was down with 2 pegs of red wine and Django down with 5. He pulled Radha closer while she hesitated, but eventually she surrendered. He kissed her on forehead and hugged her.

“Radha, not like that. I’m not a pervert darling, and we must not cross this ‘ex relationship’ line. Although I desparately love you even today but it’s not possible you know that” said Django

“Just don’t give me anymore excuse” said Radha while putting her lips tightly against his and smooching him. That went on for some time before they ended up having sex.

“Dhanu, did we just patch up?” asked Radha. Django’s real name was Dhananjay.

“We may think so” said Django with a wink.

And afterwards they patched up again. Just like a teenage couple, they started dating without thinking of any consequences. These were the hard days when a global pandemic caused by Covid 19 brought everyone to utter loneliness and social anxiety. This patch up was technically a great relief for both of them. Since these were the days of unlock and Django’s parents often go to their family town where they have a huge farm, Django often used to be alone and Radha kept on coming to him, not to mention their physical intimacy when the world was socially distancing.

With tears in his eyes, Django got up from the deep leap of recent memories with Radha as he heard the door bell.

“Hello Aniruddh, welcome. How come you visited me?” – Django

Instead of giving an answer, Ani kicked Django in the stomach and slapped him hard. Without even letting him speak a word, Ani said with an accusation, “Bastard, you murdered my sister!”

To be continued…..
